Portal is a complete, web-based industry-specific product catalog that allows professional installers/dealers to find product information and make wholesale purchases from all of their suppliers in one place.

iPoint utilizes Portal to simplify the addition of items your company sells to the Item database. In order to use Portal’s item library, you must set up at least a Pro account at Portal.io

Adding parts to your item database will bring manufacturer information, pricing, descriptions, and photos with the click of a button. If you provide Portal with your dealer agreement information, the pricing synchronized to iPoint will match the pricing granted to you by your manufacturers.

Portal Integration ScreenPortal Integration Screen
  1. Begin by entering your Portal.io User Name
  2. Enter your Portal.io password
  3. Click the Get API Key button
  4. If your login is successful, iPoint will display your Portal API Key and you are now authorized to pull Manufacturer items into your iPoint database.
  5. Go to the Items module to import items.

Sync Specific Fields – when you check this box you will be prompted with nine options where you can specify what fields will be synchronized from the Portal database to your iPoint database. Select the fields desired by placing a tick in the appropriate box.

Enable Auto Update Selected Fields – Checking this button will cause iPoint to automatically update items that are synchronized with Portal. This update checks for items that have changed in the past seven days. This process is server processor intensive and as a result, will take some time for everything to be updated. iPoint will process a maximum of 10 items per minute, assuming that no other server processes are running.

Once selecting the Auto Update function, iPoint can be restricted to only fetch specific item fields. Choose which item fields are updated automatically by placing a tick in the appropriate box.

Integration Disclaimer: Portal.io is a third-party application that is completely unrelated to iPoint, LLC and we have no control over their code. From time to time, Portal may choose to modify their API code, which is outside iPoint’s control. We make every effort to maintain accurate connections to external, third-party applications. But in the event you have a problem, please let us know so we can work with Portal to rectify the situation.
