Portal is a complete, web-based industry-specific product catalog that allows professional installers/dealers to find product information and make wholesale purchases from all of their suppliers in one place.
iPoint utilizes Portal to simplify adding items your company sells to the Item database. To use Portal’s item library, you must set up at least a Pro account at Portal.io
Adding parts to your item database will bring manufacturer information, pricing, descriptions, and photos with the click of a button. In addition, if you provide Portal with your dealer agreement information, the pricing synchronized to iPoint will match the pricing granted to you by your manufacturers.
- Begin by entering your Portal.io User Name
- Enter your Portal.io password
- Click the Get API Key button
- If your login is successful, iPoint will display your Portal API Key, and you are now authorized to pull Manufacturer items into your iPoint database.
- Go to the Items module to import items.
Sync Specific Fields – when you check this box, you will be prompted with nine options where you can specify what fields will be synchronized from the Portal database to your iPoint database. Select the fields desired by placing a tick in the appropriate box.
Enable Auto Update Selected Fields – Checking this box will automatically cause iPoint to update items synchronized with Portal.
This update checks each item once per week to see if there are updates to that item. The update runs throughout the day on the server and checks about ten items every minute. If you would like to force an update of all Portal Items, you can do that in Dashboard > Items > Options > Advanced.
Once selecting the Auto Update function, iPoint can be restricted only to fetch specific item fields. Choose which item fields are updated automatically by placing a tick in the appropriate box.
