There are several tasks you can be working on while you are waiting for your server to arrive. So take a look and feel free to call with any questions you have or visit our online scheduling tool to schedule a time for help!
Company Logo and Template Examples
If you haven’t already, please email us a high-resolution copy of your company logo(s), and a proposal that reflects your current proposals so we can attempt to re-create it (unless you’ll be using the Portal.io or STX integation features). We’ve added four templates in Settings>Custom Templates that give you an idea of varying degrees of details that you can include. These templates can be modified, cloned, and created at any time, so this is just to get you started. Template graphics can be changed and customized by you if you can create correctly sized images. Note: You will have the opportunity to add your company logo in the Onboarding Wizard embedded in iPoint.
Accounting Options
You should consider how you will be using iPoint and Quickbooks for invoicing purposes. iPoint supports many different accounting options, including Deferred Revenue, Line Item Invoicing, Progressive Invoicing, Use Tax, and Retainage. There are advantages to each depending on your inventory tracking, state tax laws, and other regulations. Click Here to learn more about the different methods iPoint supports.
Import Files
Depending on where your information is coming from, iPoint may need the exported files from your current software re-formatted to line up with our information fields. We have made this process more accessible than ever by providing you with templates for your current information. If you are importing from QuickBooks, iPoint can sync directly in most cases, so you will not need to export. If you already use Portal.io you have the ability to import directly as well.
These templates can be used to properly format your information to be imported into iPoint. However, the fields in the template must match EXACTLY to the fields you are looking to sync them with. If you need any help, please don’t hesitate to call (800) 535-4101 or create a support ticket on our website: http://www.ipointsolutions.net.
Note: We have the ability to import item details from D-Tools, Simply Reliable, or BidMagic without using our Items Import Template. Simply export your item list from those programs as a .csv file and send it to us directly.
- Be sure to export only the items you want to import into iPoint —or—
- Take the time to clean up the exported list so that you aren’t importing a bunch of dead or expired items.
Uploading from Portal
iPoint also integrates with a company, Portal.io, to import items directly into iPoint. You will need to have a Portal Pro account set up in order to utilize this functionality. Visit Portal.io to sign up. They will take you through the process and collect the information they need in order to create your account. By using Portal to import your items, a lot of the hard work is done for you. Portal will provide the items basic information, including the Manufacturer, Category, Type, Picture, Cost, and Price. You will still need to add your data, such as Labor Phase, Time, etc. but this is a great way to build a database if you are not importing from the previous software.
Additionally, iPoint has a NEW feature where you can quickly add items from Portal.io to iPoint. Simply create a proposal in Portal.io with the items you’d like to import and import the Proposal. That function will bring in all items on the Proposal so you don’t have to do it one by one. This is a great way to get lots of items in quickly.

Barcode Scanner
Inateck Bluetooth Barcode Scanner
We recommend this scanner as it is the one we used to test all the barcode components in iPoint. In addition, it is Bluetooth and can connect to both a computer or an iPad, making it easy for you to move around the warehouse.
Monitor Replacement
You need to have a monitor attached to the server for our support team to log in to perform maintenance. This Dummy Plug makes the server think a monitor is connected, even when it isn’t, but still allows remote connectivity from iPoint.
