iPoint Online is where you can access iPoint from a web browser instead of using FileMaker Pro. You can access it via any web browser from a computer, tablet, iPhone, Android device, or anything that has a web browser. The big benefit of iPoint Online is that everything is processed on the server, so it’s fast. Users who are local to their server (connected over LAN), won’t see much of a speed improvement (and actually in our testing some elements are faster using FileMaker Pro over LAN than iPoint Online). But users who connect remotely (from the field, remote office, working from home) will notice a big speed increase in using iPoint Online versus using FileMaker Pro.
iPoint Online is currently in Beta testing (March 2024), with a team of developers knocking out bugs and working to make the web interface as smooth as possible.
To Access iPoint Online, go to Settings > Module Settings > Beta. If your FileMaker Server software needs updating, click to request that update. If your software is up to date, then you can enable iPoint Online. This will add a button to the bottom right of the Dashboard for easy access to iPoint Online.
