iPoint MobileiPoint Mobile

iPoint offers a number of different ways to access your data while using a mobile phone or tablet. Depending on the method you are using, iPoint will look and react a little bit differently, so this section of the manual will focus on those differences.

First, you’ll need to understand that iPoint on a mobile device will look different than using iPoint on your computer. That is because we have mobile layouts that make it easier to navigate on a smaller phone screen.

Secondly, there are three different ways to work with iPoint on a mobile device:

Use FileMaker Go

FileMaker Go is FileMaker’s mobile app and, as such, you’ll use iPoint just like you do on the computer, it just looks different. We call this iPoint Mobile.

iPointTech (FileMaker Go) was our first attempt at building an iOS app specifically for technicians. Most technicians using iPoint on or before the year 2020 use this version of iPointTech. We spent a lot of time developing this app, but it just didn’t quite cut the mustard. So we stopped developing this version in mid-2020 and shifted to the new iPointTech App (described below). Once the new standalone app is out of Beta testing, we’ll be deleting the iPointTech (FileMaker Go) version.

iPointTech App

This is our brand new stand-alone app for iOS devices. No FileMaker is necessary. The biggest plus here is that you can work offline, with no internet access! This app is still in Beta testing and has some limitations. If you would be interested in being a Beta tester, click here to drop us an email. When the version is complete and ready for public use, this app will replace the iPointTech (FileMaker Go) described above.

Here are the details for the new standalone iPointTech App.

WebDirect

Because FileMaker is an Apple product, there is no version for Android devices. (You can probably understand why, as Apple and Android are in direct competition with each other!) However, WebDirect is a great alternative as you’ll be able to access your iPoint file through a web browser.
