Do Work, Get Paid. Removing an Item but Keeping the Labor in a CO

Getting paid is always a hot topic. How to get paid for your labor costs, even when an item gets returned, is a very important question—and one we hear a lot.

Keeping the Labor for a Removed Item

Enter the Number of Labor Hrs and Mark the Labor Item as Hidden

Complete the following steps to remove a part, but still keep the labor on a change order:

  1. Start a new Change Order
  2. Click on the item you wish to remove and click the Remove this Entire Item button
  3. Add a labor item for the correct labor phase (to make sure the added item matches the removed item’s labor unit price)
  4. Click the blue dot to the left of the labor item
    1. Then, click the Make Accessory button
  5. Click on the labor item to open the popover menu
    1. Enter the number of Labor Hours from the item you removed
    2. Tick the Hidden checkbox (this will make the item hidden on the Sales Order Report)

    Open a Change Order Report

    1.  Options > Change Order Report button
    2. You can see that just the unit price of the product has been removed from the Change Order
